Expertise

I provide expert analysis on all five Refugee Convention grounds — political opinion, religion, ethnicity, membership of a particular social group (including LGBT and gender-based cases), and nationality — with a focus on Francophone West Africa.

This includes:

• Political persecution of activists, opposition leaders, civil society members, students, and journalists. 
• Religious repression, especially of Islamic reformist groups, Christians in Muslim-majority areas, and non-conformist or syncretic communities. 
• Ethnic discrimination affecting Fulani, Tuareg, Soninké, and other minority groups. 
• Widespread gender-based violence and systemic failures to protect women and girls, including FGM and early marriage. 
• Targeting and social exclusion of LGBT persons in both urban and rural areas. 
• State-sponsored violence, torture, and extrajudicial killings, particularly in contexts of anti-terror operations. 
• Suppression of protest movements and criminalisation of dissent, especially during political transitions or coups. 
• Denial of documentation, statelessness, and lack of nationality recognition for marginalised or border populations. 
• Forced displacement due to armed conflict, jihadist violence, and environmental collapse in the Sahel.
